Solid platinum-cured silicone, the same class of material as baking mats. Wipe with a damp cloth for daily care; for a full reset, rinse it in the sink or tub and towel dry. No grooves means nothing to scrub. It ships folded and relaxes in the cabinet; faint creases may remain and do not affect performance. Unlike filler-heavy blends it will not curl, crack or hold an odor.

The perimeter is a real dam, 0.75 inches of solid silicone standing between a bad night and your cabinet floor. A weeping trap, a seeping supply line, a bottle of cleaner on its side: it stays inside the lip, off the cabinet floor, and out of the renovation budget.

We settled on 0.75 inches after living with taller ones. It is the most water the mat can hold before the wall becomes something you fight every time you slide a bottle or a bin in and out.

Every other mat embosses a honeycomb or diamond pattern into the floor and sells it as a feature. It is pure marketing. Those cells trap crumbs, grease and mildew, so cleaning becomes scrubbing instead of wiping, and the ridges tip bottles and bins as you set them down.

What size under-sink mat do I need?
Go by your cabinet, not a universal size: a 24-inch sink base takes the 22 × 22 in mat; a 30-inch sink base takes the 28 × 22 in mat; a 33-inch sink base takes the 31 × 22 in mat; a 36-inch sink base takes the 34 × 22 in mat; a 30-inch vanity takes the 28 × 19 in mat; a 36-inch vanity takes the 34 × 19 in mat. If you are unsure, measure the flat interior floor side wall to side wall and front to back, or use the Fit Finder. Between sizes, go down.
How much water can an under-sink mat hold?
The Basin Mat's 0.75-inch silicone lip holds 1.6 to 2.5 gallons depending on size, enough to contain a slow leak or a tipped bottle of cleaner until you notice it.
Is a silicone mat better than a plastic drip tray?
A rigid tray is one shape for every cabinet and has to be trimmed or forced to fit. Silicone flexes past the cabinet face frame, lies on the floor instead of rocking on it, and is sold in sizes matched to real cabinet interiors. Basin's floor is smooth rather than ridged, so spills wipe off in one pass.
Will an under-sink mat fit around pipes?
Plumbing that comes down from the sink sits on top of the mat, so it is no obstacle. If pipes rise through the cabinet floor, measure depth to the front of the pipes and choose a mat that stops there. Most leaks start at the drain or disposal toward the front, so a shorter mat still sits under the part that leaks, with its lip intact.
How do you clean an under-sink mat?
Wipe it with a damp cloth. For a full reset, rinse it in the sink or tub with a drop of dish soap and towel it dry. The Basin Mat has no grooves or honeycomb pattern, so there is nothing to scrub.
