Basin made the first silicone under-sink mat. Everything that came after is a copy of it, usually a thinner and cheaper one. We make one product, in exact sizes, and we choose quality over cutting corners for more profit.

Basin started the way most honest products do: with a ruined cabinet floor and nothing worth buying. There was no such thing as a silicone under-sink mat then. The category was a flimsy plastic tray in one size that fit nothing, or a roll of shelf liner pretending to be protection.
So we built the mat we wanted to find: solid silicone, a real containment lip, and a size for the cabinet we actually owned. Then five more sizes, because your cabinet deserves the same precision. We are a small family business, we design in the USA, and more than three thousand kitchens later the brief hasn't changed.

Inventing a category means watching other people sell it back to you. Search for an under-sink mat today and you will find dozens of listings that look like ours, priced lower and built to it: thinner silicone that curls at the corners, a token ridge instead of a containment lip, and one or two sizes that fit nobody's cabinet exactly.
We have never competed on being cheapest. Basin is the mat the copies are copying: full-thickness solid silicone, a lip engineered to hold gallons, and six sizes drawn to the quarter inch. It is the one you buy once.

Simplicity has benefits
Every ridge and honeycomb cell is somewhere crumbs, grease and mildew go to live, and somewhere a bottle tips. A flat floor has nowhere to hide anything, so it wipes clean in one pass.
The right capacity
At 0.75 inches the lip holds up to 2.5 gallons, the most water we can catch before the wall starts getting in the way of sliding things in and out. Taller would look impressive and annoy you daily.
Sized for standard cabinets
Our sizes assume a standard cabinet built with 3/4-inch walls, which is what almost every stock and semi-custom box uses. If yours was custom made, measure carefully: custom shops often use 1-inch walls or non-standard widths and depths.

Nobody writes to us about a mat that sat there. They write about the morning they opened the cabinet doors and found the water waiting for them, an inch inside the lip, instead of soaking into the floor.
